Innovation drives storytelling

Nick Bilton, lead technology writer for The New York Times Bits Blog, recently told

“As we move to this world where we consume things on screen and the lines blur between television and radio and the printed word and every medium, everything is going to be catered to storytelling.”

Absolutely. And I love how advancements in technology not only underscore the importance of storytelling, but also create new methods of storytelling.

You can tell a love story and propose marriage by weaving together several features on an iPhone. You can re-enact the Easter story in real time over an entire weekend by having actors post updates from multiple Twitter accounts in the characters’ voices. You can even use technology to creatively tell the story of why you’re the best candidate for your dream job. The possibilities are endless, which is why it’s so much fun to be a storyteller.
